You’re not Alone with Obesity

If you are someone with obesity you’ve probably never considered that you are supported by more than 50 countries worldwide and more than 55 healthcare-focused organizations who promote Obesity Care Week. Yes, you read that right. Obesity Care Week 2020 is March 1st to 7th.

Obesity Care Week aims to raise awareness, educate, and advocate for a better world for people living with obesity. So how about that?

A global vision for a society that understands, respects, and accepts the complexities of obesity and values science and clinically-based care is the work of OCW2020.

Have you heard of the Canadian Obesity Network? Their goal is to fight weight bias and discrimination and to ensure policy makers and health care providers understand the complexity of obesity. To that end they hold a biennial Canadian Obesity Summit.

According to the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, obesity is a complex chronic disease that affects more than 650 million people worldwide.

You might feel alone, but you are definitely not alone. At any given moment there are many bright minds around the world working for you.

Hold your head up high. Take comfort. One day there will be more education, awareness, compassion and solutions, including furniture that fits.
