Approach to Weight and Wellness
Traditional weight loss methods are oriented entirely to the physical body. “Just eat less and move more.” While that works for a fortunate few, for most people it isn’t enough.
My approach to weight loss and personal wellness is to address mind, body and spirit – in balance. No diets, no calorie counting, no weigh-ins. Believe it or not, removing the pressure to lose weight helps to achieve it.
Of course mindful eating and active living will also play a role. For the most part, small changes that you’re ready for, one after the other, will get you where you want to go.
This is not boot camp. Pushing you to make specific changes is ineffective and unsustainable when you’re not ready. But that’s not to say you won’t be challenged.
You will be challenged to explore your thinking, beliefs and behaviors. And you will be challenged to stretch, trying things you’ve never tried.
You will be encouraged to accept yourself as you are, and to make yourself important in order to find the resolve to follow through with new behaviors.
You will be supported to feel safe, accepted, and to make mistakes.
Identifying your limiting beliefs, stressors and personal core values is part of the process. As is identifying why you eat. You will learn mindful eating and effective breathing, and to cope with stress in ways that support your health rather than diminish it.
As a result of working with me you will have awareness, tools and strategies that support you on your journey to personal wellness.
Let the journey begin.
