Twenty years as a graphic designer honed my visual communication skills, but the shifting emphasis to technology offered little to me personally. As my interests shifted, I was exposed to a personal development program, changing my career path. I became consumed by personal growth and human potential.
Facilitating a 5-day personal development program was the beginning. Since then I have delivered courses and programs to corporate, educational and public audiences on everything from self-care to team-building, learning a great deal about personality and human behavior in the process.
In order to expand on my work so that I might work with individuals on an on-going basis, I took coach training (Coach U), graduating in 2001, and was certified by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) in 2006
I have coached a variety of people on both personal and professional goals. As I am naturally attracted to nutrition, fitness and wellness in general, I have targeted my business specifically in the area of weight and wellness. Coaching is coaching, however. Active listening and effective questioning always apply.
If you're new to the concept of coaching, coaching can be defined as a partnership. Through a creative and individualized process, the coach helps the client to produce results and enhance the quality of their lives.
I believe people are naturally capable, creative and resourceful. My job is to support you to access the solutions, skills, resources and creativity that you already have in order to maximize your potential.
As a weight and wellness coach, I support people who want to work towards a healthier weight and a more balanced, fulfilling life. A holistic approach, considering all aspects of a person in the larger context of wellness, supports clients in achieving a weight loss that is sustainable and a life that is good.
I am a member of the International Coach Federation and the Edmonton Association of Professional Coaches.
On the personal side, I have two teenage boys and one middle-aged husband. I actually love exercise, vegetables and driving to Saskatchewan. I practice yoga and play soccer competitively, both summer and winter. A little known fact - I really dig my own healthy cooking.
